How do I find an estate agent?
If you live locally, you will probably know where to find your local estate agents. However if you are moving to a new area you will be unfamiliar with all the estate agents in the area.
Did you know that there are over 14,000 estate agents in the Uk. Anyone can become an estate agent, there is no formal qualification, and no compulsory code of practice.
Our advice: Be sure you are dealing with a reputable estate agency. Read the consumer association’s Which campaign to regulate estate agents. It reports on estate agents and their campaign for greater accountability and working practices within the estate agency business.
In order to find estate agents use the following links:-
- Estate Angels. This is a directory of UK estate agents but it is not exhaustive. Youa re able to email several estate agents in one hit – cross your fingers and hope they reply thoguh!
- Rightmove. Note not all estate agents are on here they have around 7,000 of the universe of 14,000.
- National Association of Estate agents You can find about 10,000 registered agents here.
They are all part of a vlountary code of practice so in theory can be trusted more.
- Look at Estate agency news as this has a list of the top 50 biggest estate agency groups in the UK. So you know whether you are dealing with a big corporate or independent estate agency.
